From a single LMS to an AI compliance OS.
emPower started in 2008 in Louisville, Kentucky with a simple idea: healthcare organizations needed a faster, simpler way to train staff on HIPAA. We shipped one of the first cloud-native LMS platforms built specifically for regulated industries — and customers asked us to take on the rest of their compliance program.
Over the next decade we added policy management, document attestations, and 100+ courses across healthcare and food service. We grew to 1,000+ organizations and 800,000+ learners — never with a big sales team. Just product that worked.
Then GPT-4 happened. We saw it before most: compliance is a perfect AI problem — high-context, document-heavy, repetitive, but consequential. Today every product we ship has AI woven through it, built as focused apps that each do one job well: CourseSmith drafts a complete course in 90 seconds, PolicyPilot watches regulators for changes, and AuditScribe checks a course and generates the audit pack in a click.
We're not a startup chasing the AI wave. We're a 17-year-old compliance company that finally has the tools to deliver on the original promise: compliance, on autopilot.
Four principles that shape every release.
Audit-ready or it didn't happen.
Every feature ships with the evidence trail an auditor would expect. No exceptions.
AI shows its work.
Generated training cites the source. Policy drafts link the regulation. Trust comes from transparency.
Built for the buyer who pays.
Compliance officers, not procurement. We optimize for daily-use simplicity over feature-list length.
Fairly priced. Always.
Customers report saving up to ~40% versus legacy LMS vendors and manual training. We intend to keep it that way.
